1. What inspired you to write your first book?
Answer: I stared aimlessly out the window at three feet of snow, thick gray clouds, and flickering streetlights. It was a depressing New England winter day, and my mind wandered into a warmer place, like San Diego. I imagined the heat of the sun and the feeling of sand between my toes, but a cold draft stung my skin and snapped me out of my daze. I wished I had the ability to live in a daydream for a few minutes, just so I could enjoy the warm sun. I began to wonder if people had that capability, and that’s when the story began to flood my mind.

2. Writing can be a difficult job, what inspires you to keep going?
Answer: I have a passion for writing. It’s my escape and my hobby.

3. What are you working on now? What’s next?
Answer: Right now I’m revising the third book from the Schasm Series. I’m also outlining my ideas for a new book.

4. What’s your writing process, schedule, or routine?
Answer: I write what comes to my mind and organize it when I’ve gotten all of my thoughts out on paper. I write during my kids’ naptime and after they go to bed.

5. Who is your favorite book character of all time? Why?
Answer: Layken from Colleen Hoover’s “Slammed”. Layken was very relatable to. Colleen had me believing the story was about a real person.

6. What advice would give to aspiring writers?
Answer: The first book is the hardest. It might take a year, two years, or even three years to write it. Whatever you do though, don’t give up. The feeling you’ll get after you write the last word makes every second of the hard work worth it.

9. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Answer: Random noises when I’m writing. I’m distracted easily.

10. Tell us something quirky about you.
Answer: I used to have ghost friends when I was a kid. Sometimes I still wonder if they were imaginary or really ghosts. It creeps me out now.
