1. What inspired you to write your first book?

I wrote my first book for my male best friend. He was there reading it chapter by chapter until I finished the first draft.

2. Writing can be a difficult job, what inspires you to keep going?

Well I started a book that became a series. Those who support my journey inspire me to keep going when I sometimes just want to say screw it. They invested their time and money into the world I created and it would be a shame to leave them hanging with where the story is going.

3. What are you working on now? What’s next?

I just finished my second book, which is the next one after the first book I wrote. I’m doing a read through to make sure it is ready for publication in the next few weeks. I am also working on a prequel book that gives some background on a few of the characters from the first two books. I also have a few ideas written down here and there for other ideas for books I’ve had.

4. What’s your writing process, schedule, or routine?

I don’t really have a process. I write when I write and then I may not write for a few days or weeks. If a scene comes to me at work or while I’m out, I’ll make a note of it and add it when it needs to be added.

5. Who is your favorite book character of all time? Why?TheQueenOfTheDamned

Well this is a hard one. I have so many but I will go with Akasha from The Queen of the Damned. She was one of the best villains out there for me. She did what she wanted and didn’t care how it affected anyone else. It was her way or no way.

6. What advice would give to aspiring writers?

Keep writing what you love. Don’t let anyone stop you from doing it because of jealous or rude comments. Someone will love your work as much as you do. Write for them and yourself. You can’t please everyone and people like different things. That doesn’t mean your writing isn’t good, it just means you haven’t found your audience yet.

“I have never in my life needed you to loan me money. If I was dead, and the ferryman needed a coin to take me across the river to the afterlife, and you had the only quarter in existence, I’d tell you to stick it up your ass.” – Andrea, Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews
